Lopiding Borehole Launched

Excitement was evident among residents of Lopiding Village, Lokichoggio, Turkana County on 21st October 2019 when a missions team from the United States visited to dedicate a borehole built in partnership with the Big Rapids Resurrection Life Church (Michigan), World Mission and Water for the World (W4W).

Lopiding is a village of about 1,000 people just outside of Lokichogio town that is water constrained especially during drought seasons. The borehole will be a great resource particularly to women and children who previously had to travel over five kilometers to access the closest watering point.

The borehole is also special because it was drilled and equipped in memory of a gifted young man Max Szynkowski who passed away in an unfortunate fatal accident. He was a member of the Big Rapids Resurrection Life Church.

World Mission will distribute to the community “The Treasure” a solar powered audio player with recorded Bible readings and teachings in local languages, including Turkana.

Special thanks to the generosity of the many people who made this borehole a reality to the Lopiding community.
